Don't forget that the "Battle of Round Mountain" Civil War reenactment
is this weekend at the Jim Thorpe Park in Yale, OK (just E of
Stillwater). From 9-4 pm, Feb. 18, Fri., is the free school day,
where the students and parents/teachers can interact with the
reenactors, and Sat. (9-5) & Sun. (9-4), the 19-20th, have battles
both afternoons (2 pm Sat. & 1:30 pm Sun.), with the ball
on Sat. night with a live period band and dance instruction (indoors
at the Yale Elementary School Gym [1/2 mi. N of Hwy 51 on "C" St.])
and a period church service on Sun. at 10:00 am at the park. Sat. and
Sun. have a $5 admission charge; childern 12 and under are FREE. All
three days you can walk through the period camps to see how the
soldiers lived during the war.
