Historic Dancing Update
Here's a few updates I got from Stephanie K.:
We will be having our ALL IRISH MUSIC dance practice this Thurs.,
3/17, in honor of St. Patrick's Day. It will be held from 6:30-8:30
pm in the Lowery Room at the Norman Library. Cynthia is going to
teach us a couple of Irish dances, in addition to the regular
instruction I will be giving. Rumor has it that we may enjoy some
sweet treats this time, as well. So come in comfortable clothes and
shoes and we'll see you there!
If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a wonderful week!
Stephanie
Only on the evening of Sat., March 19, every 15 min. beginning at 7 pm
and concluding at 8:45 pm, the Honey Springs battlefield (off
of I-40 at Checotah) will host their annual Candlelight Tours. You
can go and observe period vignettes portraying aspects of life during
the war - usually there is a good mix of military and civilian scenes.
The theme this year is "The Blood Bath as Seen Through the Eyes of
the Soldiers."
This historic site also has some walking trails that outline the
battle fought there, as well as a Union group having their spring
muster during the daytime, so you could make a day of it.
