VERY IMPORTANT—Meeting Today!

Our meeting today will be held at Trinity Baptist.

VERY IMPORTANT: Everyone MUST bring the money for their graduation announcements/name cards. If you will be unable to make it tonight, contact Mrs. M. ASAP to see about getting them. Checks may be made out to Class of 2005.

If anyone's caps or gowns don't fit, bring them tonight with your name pinned on them. Also bring the box. Girls, try on your caps with your hair down, and if they don't fit, bring them back.

Remember, music/talent auditions start right after the meeting!

recognition of your guests--NOW!
2. If you are having difficulty in knowing what to
say, call me.

microphone to introduce and recognize your parents and
guests. Your statements will be on a card for your
prompting.
4. The cards will be at each of your tables along
with a statement "You will be first" or "you will
follow______" which means you have to pay attention
and get up and move quickly to the stage.
5. The order of presentation will NOT BE IN
ALPHABETICAL ORDER, but random.
6. This is a night to be honored and for each of you
to honor your parents and others who have invested in
you. Be sure to thank them at the end of your

The class meeting will be held on Saturday (the 16th) at 6:30. The music/talent audition will be held directly afterwards at Trinity Baptist. Does anyone have any preferences as to whether or not to have the meeting at Mrs. M.'s, or go ahead and have it at Trinity? Email me back with your thoughts, and we'll go with the majority.

For those of you who were wondering, the email I sent out a few days ago about the Bash refers to the afterparty for the Sr. Honor Banquet. If anyone needs me to resend the email let me know.

Historic dancing newsletter

Here's the newsletter from Stephanie K. I thought I'd pass it on to you all.

Class of 2005 Reporter

Hooray - Gmail finally got rich text formatting!  So now these e-mails should be a little easier to follow!

Keep in mind that unless I specify that you must be in period attire,
these events are open to the public and you may attend (as a
"spectator" at the reenactments) in modern clothes.

1) Harn Homestead Opportunity in OKC
Land Run Volunteers Needed

-from their website- We need volunteers to assist with the historic
Land Run reenactment on April 20, 21, and 22.  Over 300 children
participate in this annual event.  We need at least 15 volunteers each
day from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to assist with the reenactment of
general store sales, setting up campsites and campfires, and the run.
We will have volunteer training in March to assign specific duties.
If interested, please call Jana S. at (contact Rachel for phone number).

2) Stillwater will host its annual "Land Run Day" on Sat., April 16.
The timeframe I was told is 10-2 or so, with a group doing historic
dances as part of the festivities.  When I know more, I will pass it
along.

3) Our Oklahoma City area historic dance group will be meeting (in
casual clothes and shoes) on the third Thursday of April (21) from
6:30-8:30 pm at the Moore library (off of 4th St. and I-35 in Moore).
We should have plenty of room in the "A" room to begin going over our
program for the summer ball we are hosting.  *April-July practices
will be in preparation for the summer ball. You are welcome to come to
the practices even if not participating in the ball.  The ball will
not include any dance instruction, though I will still be calling the
dances as we go along.  More info to follow.
Many thanks to Cynthia and Mr. & Mrs. G. for providing the
delicious refreshments last month- we had such a great time trying the
period dances to Celtic music at our March practice!

4) Batters Up: An 1889 Baseball Game will take place on Fri., Apr. 22,
at 6:30.  The Oklahoma Territorial Musuem in Guthrie sponsors this event
every year as part of their '89er Days celebration.  I have a blast
every time as these guys play baseball according to the rules of 1889
(e.g. an actual rule was "No killing the umpire").  The Cottonwood
Flats baseball field in Guthrie is home to this game - feel free to
come and observe in comfortable, casual clothes and bring a picnic.
Call 405/282-1889 for more info.
GUYS: Any male (around 18 or older - ask the museum about age minimum)
who wants can be part of this game.  You just have to attend one
practice the Fri. before the game, so it's not a huge time commitment
or anything.  The museum provides the period uniform for you to wear
for the game and a group picture as a momento for you to keep.

5) April 23-24, Fort Gibson will hold its annual "Old Fort Days."  I
haven't heard what activities will be taking place those two days, but
it should be fun.

6) The grand reopening of the fully restored Peter Conser 1890's
farmhouse in Heavener, OK, will be May 21.  More details should be
coming soon.

7) Sat., June 4th will be the period Lawn Social at the Murrell Home in
Tahlequah, OK.  This (usually 3 hour) social at the only remaining
antebellum plantation home in OK is lovely!  I have heard that 4
different time periods will be represented this year, so that should
be fun.  There are various period
activities going on throughout the afternoon, including dancing on the
lawn.  If you would like to portray a 1st person character for this
event, contact Martha R. of OHS at (contact Rachel for email address).  She'll give
you info on your character ahead of time for you to study up on.
Spectators can come and go and participate in the fun without having
to be in period attire (it's a lot cooler that way!).

8) Battle of Tribbey, June 10-12th, in Tribbey, OK.  This reenactment
is held about 45 Min. SE of OKC, off of Hwy 102.  This is the closest
Civil War event to OKC that I am aware of.  One really cool thing
about this event is the wonderful fireworks display after the Sat.
evening dance by the local volunteer fire dept. (for whom this event
is a fundraiser). Details on the reenactment are at:
http://www.wildfiremusicfestival.com/.

9) One event in OK that I really look forward to every June is the
OKMozart Festival in Bartlesville, OK.  I like to go for a few days
every year and attend the concerts (there are several styles of music,
not just Mozart!) and other programs/tours, go shopping, eat (a lot of
great stuff!) - it's all wonderful!  www.okmozart.com
A few items you might be interested in helping with/attending at OKMozart:
- (6/16) 1910-1940 style show at the Frank Phillips Mansion (We can
use both guys and ladies for this).
- (6/17) Victorian Hat workshop
- (6/17) Period dance workshop (both genders needed)
Contact Martha R. (info in #7's info) if you are interested in
helping with any of those three items.  It doesn't usually cost
anything to just help.

10) Tulip Academy (1850's young people's school)
July 15-17, 2005 in Arkansas - great opportunity for 14-18 young men and women to learn living history skills at a great price!  Please let me know ASAP if you are planning on going or have any questions.

Let me know if you have any questions on any of these events or if you
know of any events I should include in a future list.

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Stephanie

Music auditions postponed!

Hello, everyone. Due to a conflict, there has been a change in schedule for the music auditions. They will NOT be held this Saturday the 9th. Instead they will be next Saturday the 16th, after the class meeting, at Trinity Baptist.

There has been a suggestion to move the class meeting that night to Trinity Baptist, so auditions could start directly afterwards. We could either do that or go ahead and meet at Mrs. M.'s, then drive over to the church afterwards for the auditions. What is everyone's preference?

God bless,
Rachel M.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON MUSIC AUDITIONS!

Dear Senior Class and Music Committee,
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTICE! The Sanctuary at
Trinity Baptist is not available this coming Sat.,
April 9, for the music/performance auditions. We
could use Fellowship Hall that night however. Or the
other options to use the Sanctuary are on Sat., April
16 or April 23; on both dates the Sanctuary is
available in the evening. I know the Irish Dance
people have a big performance on the 23, but don't
recall if it involves the evening. Please consider
which options would work best for all of you. I know
there is a class meeting on the 16th, but we could
just go over to the church after the class meeting, or
we could just meet there for the meeting and those
auditioning could stay after meeting. Please
call/e-mail one another and let me know as quickly as
possible. The church is holding Sat eve the 16 and 23
open for us, but I need to let them know as soon as
possible which evening we will be there.
If you need to talk with me, phones are (email Rachel for numbers) and e-mail is (email Rachel for address). I'll
be waiting and checking e-mail to hear the decision.
Sorry for the late notice and any confusion or
compications this presents to you all. There is a
concert in the Sanctuary the evening of the 9th, which
has been scheduled for awhile, so my forgetfulness in
checking the date with Trinity did not matter, it just
delayed my letting you all know. I am sorry for the
inconvenience.
Jonee M.
